Atlantis

I noticed this morning that this website's activity log indicated that somebody searched for "Atlantis", and found no results. I think it is worth mentioning that I have read some very good and serious research on that subject by Laura Knight-Jadczyk. In her blog titled Meteors, Asteroids, and Comets: Damages, Disasters, Injuries, Deaths, and Very Close Calls, Laura writes:

"As I have discussed in my book, The Secret History of the World, the North and South American continents in the Western Hemisphere fit all the descriptions of "Atlantis,"..."

And:

"10,000 - 11,000 B.C. - The earliest disaster we know of from our historical or mythic records is, of course, the legendary Deluge of Atlantis. The description of the end of Atlantis given by Plato in the "Timaeus" and "Critias" dialogues bears striking resemblance to what many scientists are now agreed would be the inevitable result of an oceanic impact by a disintegrating comet or large asteroid. The resultant 'tsunami', or tidal waves, would easily reach 2000 ft. high as they approached land, wiping out any and all coastal settlements."

If one reads everything Laura has to say about meteors and comets, they might conclude, as I did, that it is a pet subject of hers. A more serious reader could follow up by reading her book, The Secret History of the World, which I also highly recommend, because it is full of material that gives one reason to stop and think, and consider the possibilities, which is what science might be doing for us if we were not living in such a repressed society. You think I'm being too harsh? Then tell me: what does science have to say about Atlantis, or the massive evidence of a worldwide deluge (which my German colleagues have never even heard of!!), or the geological evidence of past cometary bombardments, or the hollow or expanding earth theories, or even UFO's? The subjects are shunned, and in my mind, that is abundant proof that we are living in a scientific dark ages.

The Telegraph reports "Atlantis found off Africa" hopes dashed

The internet is buzzing this week about "Atlantis Found off Africa". Apparently what can be seen here is what got everyone excited.

Today's UK-based Telegraph's reports that it is much ado about nothing. Read full article here.

"In this case, however, what users are seeing is an artefact of the data collection process. Bathymetric (or sea floor terrain) data is often collected from boats using sonar to take measurements of the sea floor. The lines reflect the path of the boat as it gathers the data. The fact that there are blank spots between each of these lines is a sign of how little we really know about the world's oceans." — an unnamed Google Earth spokeswoman

Apparently Plato said that Atlantis was an island "larger than Libya and Asia put together", which means Laura's sources probably have it right, that the "lost continent" is not lost at all (because entire continents do not go missing), but simply had its key coastal cities sunk.

Isn't it comforting to know that Google, the Internet's leading marketing and spyware company, has now become the final word on natural science?

Why did Plato not write an entire Book about it?

Why did Plato not write an entire Book about it? Why just Assume that we all Knew everything about it? That leads me to Think that perhaps there were many books written about it, and they all got burned up in the Alexandria Library!
